The Bodbe Monastery of Saint Nino lies about 2 kilometres from Sighnaghi, overlooking the Alazani Valley. Saint Nino, the enlightener of Georgia, is buried here, which makes the monastery one of the country's major pilgrimage sites.
The main church dates to the 9th–11th centuries and was renovated repeatedly in later periods. Today Bodbe is an active convent with a well-kept garden and Saint Nino's spring nearby.
